For a long time, as I was writing Discover What Matters, it had a different name—Letters From Your RA.
This was the name I used when I began dreaming of it several years earlier as a college student. This was the name I used when I started telling friends about my crazy idea of writing and publishing a book. And this was the name I used when I created a brief for potential editors.
And then, as my developmental editor and I worked together to shape the book’s content, she suggested I consider a different name. While Letters From Your RA evokes a warm and personal sentiment, we decided the book’s title should proclaim its message boldly. At first, I was resistant to this change, as I had fallen in love with the title. But slowly, I began to come around to it.
After much brainstorming and deliberation, with the help of my incredibly patient mother, we decided on Discover What Matters. Because that’s what the book invites readers to do. And I could not be happier with it.
But Letters From Your RA has always held a special place in my heart. I was hoping I could still use it one day. And now, here we are.
Following the book’s spring release, I realized I wanted to connect more directly with college students and speak to their current experiences. At first, I thought of doing this through Crafting a Life of Love, but I didn’t want to alienate those no longer in college. I love that this community has people from all walks of life, and I want to continue to serve each of you.
This is why I have created Letters From Your RA, a Substack publication for college students. As a former resident assistant, I will share personal stories, practical advice, and heartfelt encouragement to help young people embark on a meaningful college journey.
What does this mean for Crafting a Life of Love subscribers?
Nothing will change for you! I will still send you meaningful stories and reflections to help you move closer to love, beauty, and hope in your everyday life.
How can you support this new venture?
If you are a college student who would like to receive encouragement in your inbox, subscribe to Letters From Your RA. If you have a college student in your life, please send them this link! I plan to send out a letter a few times a month with college-themed content to encourage students as they navigate this unique season of life.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!
With gratitude,
Elizabeth
